GOODFOOD

ERASMUS+ Project
GOODFOOD is a European Project granted under the frame of the ERASMUS+ Program to a consortium of diverse research institutions, academic organisms and secondary schools from three countries of the Mediterranean basin, i.e. Greece, Italy and Spain.
The common objective of these organizations is to work on the development and application of methodologies, activities and school learning projects that can contribute to impulse the understanding, relevance, and need to opt for the consumption of healthier and more sustainable foods. In addition, and as consumers, the project aims to promote our interest and respectful interaction with the environment.
Target Groups
This Project is specifically directed to:
- Teachers and students of secondary schools
- Relatives (grandparents, parents etc.), friends
Within this Project, we would like to enhance the awareness on sustainable eating by combining the knowledge about the environmental impact of food production with the need to have a balanced and healthy diet that helps to combat and reduce the cardiometabolic diseases generally associated with a poorer Mediterranean lifestyle and diet.
The development of the activities and school projects will be carried out by applying the education protocols of STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) and incorporating to those, Art, as an additional tool to make the whole learning process more attractive to the students.
The participants of the GOODFOOD Project are researchers, academics, teachers and students from different institutions. The “Centro de Edafología y Biología aplicada del Segura (CEBAS)” is a research center member of the Spanish National Research Council (CSIC) and acts as the coordinator of the project led by Dr. María-Teresa García Conesa and Dr. Rocío García Villalba, both members of the Quality, Safety, and Bioactivity of Plant Foods Research Group. The project has also two partner institutions from Greece, PRISMA and the Euracademy Association, and two other participants from Italy, the CNR-IBE and the association named MAIEUTIKÉ. The teachers and students from the secondary schools “1 st General Lyceum of Rafina” (Greece) and “Secondary Education Institute Monte Miravete (Murcia, Spain) will be directly collaborating in GOODFOOD and are the ones who will carry out the specific school projects and activities applying the methodology developed during the Project.
During the 32 months of duration of the Project, and, in addition to the school activities, there will be other multiple tasks including Project meetings with all the participants as well as dissemination activities (i.e. workshops, presentations to other centers and institutions, seminars, etc). They will contribute to extend the information and outcomes of the GOODFOOD Project to other schools and organizations with the interest in the development and promotion of sustainable and healthy eating. The progress in this direction will contribute importantly to combat climate change and to improve our health and wellbeing.
